It"s all about the eyes.

To me a portrait is most often about the eyes. Many of you have probably noticed that about my work. The eyes say so much. It doesn't matter if your mouth is smiling because the eyes will smile and vice versa. Here are three beautiful examples of expressive eyes.

Brrrrrrrrr! It's chilly out there.

Winter is here. Not the most busy time for outdoor portraiture but there are some willing to brave the cold. Rick and Stacey managed to get through a -15 degree session. Fun was had by all.....most of the laughs were at my expense, I think????? LOL! Nothing new there.

Lollipop Girl!

In the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the Xmas rush I managed to take a moment in the studio for my own pleasure. Its all about color! Well OK...... maybe not just color. Its hard not to notice the beautiful model. Thanks Jeadean, I had a great time!

Let it snow!

Hey everyone, just a reminder that Christmas cards are still only $2 until the end of November. The only catch is that you need a minimum of 15.

And new to the Christmas Specials is 20% off on packages! This will go until December 10th. However if you wait until the last minute to order we can't guarantee that it will be completed in time for Christmas. It is a busy time of year and although my lab is quick.....they may not be able to get it all done. So don't wait to long. Competition Results!

PPOC-Alberta holds an annual print competition and convention for its members. The 2007 convention took place this past weekend in Canmore. I am very please to tell everyone that my submission did very well. As a result I was a finalist for Portrait Photographer of the Year. I was not the winner but to be amongst the top 5 is very exciting. I will continue to work hard at my craft and next year I hope to do just as well or better.
Thanks to everyone for their support and kind words! And a big thank you to everyone I have photographed. If it wasn't for you I would not have these beautiful images.

Busy Busy!

Things have been a little crazy lately. I have been immersed in retouching a wedding album. Many hours go into the production of an album but it is all worth it in the end. Here is a shot from Laura and Mike's wedding this past September long weekend.

And now I must get back to work so that they can enjoy their album before Christmas!

Best Friends!

It's great to take the opportunity to capture those moments with best friends and family members that are with us through everything. You know, the furry ones that love us unconditionally.
Late last week I got to enjoy some fabulous fall weather with Connie and Kumba. It was an entertaining shoot. Kumba was very excited to be there and it was a challenge to get him to sit, look, and keep his tongue in. LOL! But I keep going until I have it. All in all it was fun and I think we will all remember it for some time to come.

Alison Rain

Even though it is the fall season and everyone is taking advantage of the fall colors....I still get into the studio for a shoot or two. This beautiful young woman is Alison Rain and I recently had the pleasure of working with her. She is pursuing her dreams in the country music industry! I wish her all the best with her demo recording this week. And I look forward to listening to her on the radio in the future.

New Promo!

Well it has been a busy week and I have been a little neglectful of the blog. So I will post a couple of things to make up for the laps of time.
First I will pass the news on and then I will get to the images. LOL! Because really I know I would rather just look at the pictures.

Just a heads up.....the studio will be closed from October 17th to October 19th. So that's the bad news but the good news is that I am offering photo greeting cards for $2 (minimum of 15) from now until the end of November. So if you want to share that special portrait of you or your family with your Christmas list this is a great opportunity. Just drop me a line for more information. Accreditation News!

Recently I submitted 2 Accreditation's for judging. I am excited to say that they were both accepted. One was for Maternity Portraiture and the other was for Wedding Story.
For those that don't know what an Accreditation is....it is a selection of 10 images that represent a chosen category. The images are submitted for judging by a panel from the Professional Photographers of Canada. They judge the submission on impact, composition, technical abilities, etc. The submission must demonstrate that the photographer is capable of delivering above average quality to the client.
So this is happy news for me! And I wanted to share it everyone.

Hrynkiw Family

Jill and Darren with their two adorable boys, Kail and Kayden. They are a great looking family. Jill and I took our photography education together. It is always an honor to photograph another photographers family portrait.....but it is also nerve racking at the same time. But it was fun and great to catch up on everyone lives. I hope to see them again soon.

Charlotte has arrived!

Charlotte was welcomed into the Stady family on August 26, 2007. Here she is at 9 days. So tiny and peaceful. She was a perfect model. I look forward to watching her grow up.

Bussey Family

The weather has been a little on the touchy side for the past couple of weeks. This past weekend I lucked out. The Bussey family was scheduled and came in from Edson. The weather let up for bit right around the time of their appointment. And just as we were nearing the end of the shoot the rain started up again. Everything worked out perfectly!!

Sarah and Travis

I wasn't sure what to expect for this wedding. The officiator showed up almost a half hour late. But everyone remained fairly calm and everything went off as planned. If it was me I would of been a basket case. But Sarah and Travis were happy and relaxed. The weather was beautiful and we got some great shots. I wish them all the best in their life together.

Little Ones!

A couple of adorable little boys were in the studio a few weeks ago. Jordan was just a couple of weeks old. And we got some great shots of him sleeping. Joshua was also just an infant when we first met in the studio. Now he is an energetic 2 year old. Seems like it was just yesterday that I photographed his baby portrait. Time sure flies.

Wheat!

It's still summer in theory but there sure are a few reminders that autumn is on its way. A few leaves are beginning to turn and the fields are starting to turn golden for harvest. But the soft yellows compliment the Troppmann family.
